Michaela graduated from the University of Minnesota as a double major in English and Dance in 2012. Michaela earned her post-baccalaureate degree in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from Metropolitan State University in 2022. Michaela is currently in a graduate program at Metropolitan State University for Co-Occurring Disorders, which focuses on aiding those with mental health and substance use disorders. Michaela was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN. Michaela identifies as Latina and enjoys working in her own community. She works from a social justice lens, while using a person centered and empathetic approach to addiction counseling. She has a husband, 3-year-old son, and two cats. Michaela is very passionate about helping those in recovery and gaining knowledge to further her understanding of mental health and substance use disorders.
