Joe has more than 35 years of professional experience in Washington, DC, New York City and the Twin Cities area. He has practiced law in both private and public sectors and served as a Minnesota Assistant Attorney General for seven years. For more than two decades, he held senior strategic positions reporting to a succession of three CEOs at a health care insurer where he also led the federal and state government relations and the corporate philanthropic work, including a $150 million foundation. Joe received his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas and his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
He actively volunteers in the community and has served on more than ten nonprofit, professional and public boards. He is currently on the boards of Children’s Defense Fund for Minnesota, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery and Hennepin Healthcare Foundation. He’s the past president of the alumni association and a trustee emeritus at the University of St. Thomas, past board chair of the San Miguel Middle School, former president of the Warren Burger Inn of Court and past chair of the Mendota Heights Planning Commission.
